I’m on the East Coast! After an early morning flight (aka, I had to wake up at 5 am to get to DFW in time) I arrived in Charlotte yesterday morning. And when I got off the plane, I was STARVING!! A gatorade and a protein bar just did not last for the first 5 hours of my day. So naturally, I got off the plane hungry and rushed as fast as I could to get my bag, so Marshall and I could go to lunch! This was our lunch spot!
Apparently, this place has been on the Food Network before, and for good reason. It was absolutely delicious! Everything we had was fresh and made to order. First up, they brought us out a basket of chips with corn salsa. Unfortunately, those went from basket to stomach so fast, the camera couldn’t keep up.
Do you want to know what we got for lunch? Fish Tacos (obvi…haha)! Marshall opted for the Blackened Mahi Mahi Tacos
The Mahi Mahi tacos were topped with a bit of cabbage, tomato, avocado, cheese, and a spritz of white cilantro sauce. They also came with a side of rice topped with mango-pineapple chutney. And don’t let the picture fool you…. these tacos were HUGE!! So big in fact, I was fully content with a single one!
I got the special of the day, Grilled Tilapia Tacos! They were topped with lettuce, tomato, cheese, avocado, and some tomatillo salsa. Absolutely delicious served with a side of black beans!
And this brings me to my Nutrition Tip of the Day!
Don’t be afraid to order something not on the menu. At Cabo Fish Taco, all of their tacos came 2 to an order with a side item. I knew that would be too much food for me at lunch time, so I just asked my waitress if I could get a single taco with a side of black beans. This was not something specifically spelled out on the menu that I could order, but it was an option that was available to customers. So overall message: Don’t be afraid to customize your order! Many restaurants are happy to do that, and you save calories and money (win-win)!
But back to the tacos, this place was seriously delicious! I would return in a heart beat and I highly recommend you take a trip to North Davidson street and check out this lovely place!
